Essie's Off The Shoulder
To contact us Click HERE
Here's Essie's Off The Shoulder, a bright hot pink from their summer 2012 collection. I am not normally a pink person but I loved this one and wore it for over a week (which is a long time for me!). This is 2 coats with a base and top. Application was pretty good but I needed the second coat to smooth out streaks and bald spots. This is an amazing color for the summer and even though it's a hot pink I think it's fine for most offices.
Essie's Bikini So Teeny

I almost forgot to take a photo of Essie's Bikini So Teeny before I took it off so I took just a quick single photo (sorry no pug model this time). This is the color Essie's summer 2012 collection is named after and it's a fantastic cool bright blue. Essie describes it as a cornflower blue, but it's much cooler, lighter, and neon-y than another cornflower blue polish, Lapis of Luxury. This is with 2 coats, with a base coat and top coat. I had this on for a long weekend and it held up well. I always love Essie polishes because they never chip on me even though I am brutal with my nails. I also got a lot of compliments on this color. I'll definitely be revisiting this polish soon!
TRADER JOE'S ARGENTINIAN RED SHRIMP with LINGUINE
To contact us Click HERE
I'm so sorry if you don't have a Trader Joe's nearby. Truly. And I am hoping you can find this sweet lobster-like shrimp if you don't have a TJ's--it's worth the search. My friend, Ashley, grabbed several bags when she spied these because apparently it is only available a few times a year. Lucky me--she gave me a bag.
I had lots of pasta so concocted a recipe using what I had in the pantry. But grilled and served with vegetables would work well, too.
INGREDIENTS
Serves 4
Bag of Trader Joe's Argentinian Red Shrimp (frozen)
8 oz Linguine
4 cloves of garlic, minced or crushed
1/2 to 1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes
Olive oil (I used garlic infused olive oil)
Fresh parmesan cheese
DIRECTIONS
Forgive me, I didn't measure much in this recipe, but I know you will turn all these ingredients into a lovely dish.
While pasta is boiling, drizzle olive oil in a skillet and add crushed garlic cloves and red pepper flakes. Cook the garlic for a few minutes and then add the frozen shrimp sprinkling with salt and pepper. Cook until shrimp is pink and curled (about the same amount of time it takes to cook the pasta).
Drain the pasta saving 1 cup of pasta water. Add pasta water to the shrimp, stir, and then add the linguine. Peel fresh parmesan strip over the shrimp and linguine. Serve with fresh parmesan.
Really, this is so yummy and easy. Do make it! From start to finish it took less than 30 minutes.

Love this stuff. I swipe it under my eyes before I head to my 5:15 am spin class (thank you very much) and when I return home the puffiness is gone. I'm pretty sure it's from Kiehl's men's line, but who cares? Plus it feels good. Thought you should know.
P.S. I'm in Istanbul, etc. and scheduled this post along with a few others to pop up while I'm away. Guessing I will be slathering this stuff on every morning since we'll be in vacation mode, meaning later nights than my usual 9:30 pm...

HOUSE REDUX

Came across the photo below of how my house looked the day we took ownership. Overgrown landscape, stamped concrete walkway, no color anywhere. But the floor plan was perfect and the structure sound--we quickly changed what we didn't like.
Out came all that awful concrete which we replaced with brick pavers. We pulled every plant except for the jacaranda tree. Lights were replaced or added, flowers and pretty shrubs added, new round address plaque. Door painted, deep red pots added at the door filled with geraniums, English thyme, and an asparagus fern, and adirondack chairs for a welcome visit. Not all this is easy to see due to lighting and the fact that I'm not a professional photographer. But trust me, it all made a difference.
Happy, happy!

Long Time No Post! - Pug Update
To contact us Click HERE
Ack I've been kinda MIA on this blog for a bit. How have you all been recently?
I am on so many social media (recently joined Instagram as Funaek) that it's kinda easier to just update things there than actually load up pics and write blog posts. See this is one of many instances where my natural laziness becomes a problem. So here's a random update, based on whatever pictures I had from my phone. I now only take pictures with my phone because it's just so much easier. Unfortunately the picture quality isn't as good of course, but they always say that the best camera is the one you have with you and I ALWAYS have my phone with me! So let's get started!
Wake up Sunny! It's time to tell people what you've been up to!
Sunny got a new collar! Yes, those are mustaches you're seeing. I got the collar through Etsy and it's called the hipster collar. I am probably as far from a hipster as one can get. But I LOVE this collar! So does Sunny! She still prefers the collar to her harness, which she hates with a passion although she's slowly getting more and more used to it.
Sunny shed the remnants of her winter coat and suffered no guilt for shedding like crazy all over my clothes.
But it's ok. She can get away with almost anything because she's so stinkin cute!
I swear Sunny must've lost a gatekeeper tooth because her tongue has been out of control lately! It's like a rose petal constantly sticking out of her mouth. I LOVE it.
Sunny's tongue is very flexible apparently. It's as curly as her tail too! Sunny continues her constant begging for extra food and treats.
And as a result, Sunny's put on a couple pounds that she's going to need to lose this summer!
Sunny became more and more bonded with her new "friend."
Sunny had her annual vet visit and got all her booster shots. At first she was excited to meet all the friendly people fawning over her and other dogs in the waiting room.
Sunny was checked from head to toe and I had the pleasure of bringing in a poop sample. Everything went well (except for the massive squirming and shedding by Sunny on the vet table) and Sunny's in good health! By the end of the visit Sunny was not a happy camper.
Sunny tried to prevent me from going to work many days but someone's gotta bring home the bacon. Literally. I must bring home bacon for her. She loves turkey bacon.
We've gone on many, many walks, which are progressively getting shorter and shorter as the heat increases.
And Sunny's social circle has grown. She's so generous she's even willing to accommodate her many friends in her bed.
Next up, the human update - Bye!

Essie's Mojito Madness
To contact us Click HERE
One of my favorite polishes from Essie's summer 2012 collection is Mojito Madness. It's a fantastically vibrant and bright Kelly green (I read somewhere that this color is almost exactly the same color as Starbucks' straws). This polish is amazing and such a unique color! I am always a sucker for green polishes and this is one I will come back to often. I used two coats, with a base and top. Sunny helped me model this polish. One thing I wanted to note is that while a lot of people have noted that this doesn't stain their nails, I had some issues with removing this as it stained the skin around my nails a bit. It cleared up by the next day so maybe I just needed to be more diligent with the nail polish remover but compared to my other polishes this was definitely more pigmented and harder to take off. And despite what others said, I wouldn't want to risk using this without a base coat just in case it would stain my nails.
Ack just looking at these old photos makes me want to put this polish on again even though I just painted my nails a different color! I wish it was acceptable to wear greens and blues in the office because then I'd be wearing this one all the time!

Happy Gotcha Day Sunny!

Today is Sunny's gotcha day!
I've had this lil funny bunny for two years now! It's weird because it feels like I've had her forever, but it's only been two years. Anyways, I had to do something special for Sunny's gotcha day so I decided to whoop out some special human treats. Contrary to appearances, I am actually quite strict with Sunny's diet and the only human food I give her usually are baby carrots. So today I decided to let Sunny have a taste of some bacon (turkey bacon though). Little did she realize the awesomeness she was about to taste.
Sniff it. Want it. And it never fails - as soon as Sunny realizes I'm holding a tasty treat for her, she gets up on her back legs and dances around. I've never trained her to do this on purpose, it's just something she started doing and I encouraged.
Hehe look at her funny face below!
And here's a turkey bacon mustache for you Sunny! Here you go Sunny - enjoy!
Sunny was so intent on getting big bites sometimes one side of her face would scrunch up while she gnawed on the turkey bacon.
But Sunny, since I've now had you for two years, I think you should get a second treat for the second year! Here's a piece of grilled chicken!Dance for me!
And here's a chicken strip hat.
Sunny wants that chicken so badly she's getting sloppy with her tongue.
Enjoy the chicken!
That's it - no more! See, there's nothing left in my hand!
Hmm, but maybe I should give you a third treat for our coming third year together. Ok, you convinced me - here's some peanut butter!
Go nuts! (hehe)
Oh Sunny. Your tongue is totally missing the tasty peanut butter glob. Other side of the spoon! Other side!
Here, I'll turn over the spoon for you silly.
Sunny was in bliss!
I also got a new toy for you Sunny! A pink elephant! But you don't care about it because you're still looking for more tasty treats.
Finally, Sunny noticed the elephant toy. But I think she wishes it was covered in bacon, chicken, and peanut butter.
Happy Gotcha Day Sunny! I'm so glad to have you in my life! And I know you are so glad to have my hands filed with treats in your life!
